Vantablack

Image
I wish I had a piece of Vantablack material.  I would love to see what it really looks like and how it compares to other objects that are the color black.  This is the kind of crazy stuff that I used to post on my Facebook account.  Facebook’s prompt for posts was always “What’s on your mind?”. Well, my mind is likely to be thinking about crazy things like Vantablack material.  Yes, I am rather strange for my age.  Then again, I think I have been rather strange for every age I have ever been.   #iamstrangeformyage I like my too long (as my daughter would tell me) hashtag.  I don’t care. I want to make my claim as creator of this #.  I guess this means that I like being strange for my age. 😄

Chicken Joke

Image
Why did the chicken cross the road, roll in the mud and cross the road again? Because he was a dirty double-crosser.

Thread Bare Socks

Image
Sock TMI.  Today, I evidently aspire to write about socks.  Even when I buy some new socks, I have a problem with throwing away older ones that have any areas that have become threadbare.  I think that as long as the socks don’t actually have holes, they are still perfectly useful and functional, and there is no reason to throw away a sock that is still perfectly capable of serving it’s purpose.  The left side sock in my photo is an example of such a sock.  On the right is a sock that I decided this morning to throw away after wearing it resulted in a newly formed hole.  I won’t throw the two socks away as a pair though, only the one that actually developed a hole.  It’s a good thing that I have this place to write about such ridiculous things. 😂. I’m glad I got that off my mind. 😂 Ok, I have taken a new step in my ownership and management of socks.  I am still keeping my socks that are soon to develop holes, but I have put them together in a separate dresser drawer to be used as em

8 Billion People

Image
Sometimes when I’m out and I see new and unfamiliar faces everywhere that I go, I can’t help but think about the huge number of human beings that are presently living on our planet.  It is amazing to think that, in all but the smallest of towns, none of us can even know all of the people that live in the same town or city that we do, and all of these unknown people living so close to us are just a drop in the bucket of the worldwide sea of humanity.  This fact makes it rather unfathomable to imagine how many human beings exist around the entire planet.  Even more amazing is that each of us have lived and are living completely unique lives with unique stories that are a mixture of who we are and what experiences we have.  What a vast ocean of life stories and personal experiences are attached to all of the human lives that have taken place and are currently taking place on our planet.  Imagine all that could be understood by truly having knowledge of all of these stories and how they w

Less Is More

Image
No, I do not need to keep this empty expanding file.  I do not want to have stuff to fill it with.  If the files that I already have are too full, then I need to get rid of stuff in them.  It actually feels good to donate and liberate myself from stuff that I don’t need to hold onto.  It might actually be a good thing to have limited storage because it forces me to declutter my possessions and not just keep adding to unused stuff that is stored away.  Someone else can make use of it.  Less is more.

Tonight’s Photographic Memory

Image
I only just figured out that when I see images in my mind of things from the past, these are photographic memories.  I guess this didn’t occur to me before, because I thought that having photographic memory meant that a person could recall every moment of their life because it was all recorded in mental photos.  I can’t purposely choose to tune in to images of things from the past.  They just enter my mind of their own accord with no conscious choice on my part.  Anyway, when I was around kindergarten age,  I had a Raggedy Ann dress very similar to the one in this photo.  I saw an image of myself at around 5 years old wearing it.

Halloween Town

Image
It’s not yet Valentine’s Day but I find myself thinking of Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.  I can imagine a Halloween Town with real non animated characters.  ðŸ˜‚ A delighted little witch from Halloween Town. 😀 🧙‍♀️ 🧡🖤🧡🖤  Trivia fact: “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was the first fully animated feature film that was released by Walt Disney Productions in 1937. A Halloween Town barber. A Halloween Town plumber. Teachers from Halloween Town. A Halloween Town doctor.  Halloween Town firefighters. A Halloween Town auto mechanic. Halloween Town Trick or Treaters. A Halloween Town tavern keeper.  A Halloween Town priests.

Have I Lost My Mind?

Image
I asked the AI image generator app that I have been using to generate some images of families.  Well, in those images of families, there were three children that look very oddly similar to children that I have worked with or taken care of.  This is a bit freaky. 🫨 The images didn’t look exactly like the actual children.  Two of them had different shades and types of hair and different skin tones, but I could still really see the resemblances even though the images also looked different.  Maybe other people wouldn’t agree or see it, but I did.  Sometimes I think that the images may have two or more faces morphed together, so it is possible to see more than one familiar person in a single image.  Am I the only person on the planet who has had weird experiences like this using AI apps?  I did a little google search to see if I could find any discussion on this topic but I did not find anything,  Maybe I have just lost my mind. 😳 I could choose to not use these apps, but why would I wan

A Backpacking Banana

Image
A backpacking banana.  Wouldn’t that be a site to behold?  It would probably be wise, though, for a backpacking banana to steer clear of any jungles or other locations with monkeys.  (I am easily entertained by AI generated images.  It is the forever, immature side of me.) 😋

Another Photographic Memory

Image
I hadn’t remembered that these belts existed or that I had one until I saw a mental image of myself at around 12 or 13 years old, wearing one of these belts with a pair of maroon colored corduroy pants.

Grampy Sayings

Image
I will have to add to this when they come to mind as they often do.  And Happy Birthday Grampy!  You would have been 105 years old today.  ðŸŽ‚ 🎉 🎈  Oh dear bread and beer, if I were dead, I wouldn’t be here. What a revolting development this is. You think you are a poet and you don’t know it, but your feet show it, they’re Longfellows. Bud is wiser than Sharon. When I was single, my pockets would jingle, I wish I was single again. Stevie, Stevie he looks like a TV. Shary, Shary, her nose is like a cherry. It’s time to go feed Agnes. Gene Gene made a machine.  Stan Stan had a plan.  Join Joe made it go. Frank Frank turned the crank.  His mother came out and gave him a spank and threw him over the garden bank. Fat and skinny had a race, up and down the pillowcase.  Fat fell down and broke his face and skinny won the race. Let’s make grandma mad. We need to pound the poundcake. (And then he did pound his cake much to our delight.) OK, Katie Katie Katie the kangaroo.  She wanted to live

Cats In Socks

Image
These next two must be Miami cats. We got to see all the buildings with colorful painted murals when we were there..

Food For Thought

Image
Food for thought a.k.a. brain food is a free gift that is available to all those who endeavor to think and are open to receiving it.   I think I need a better image.  The one above looks like a plate of fruit, broccoli, and brain Jell-O.  Eww.

Witches and Warlocks and Broomsticks Oh My!

Image
Witches and Warlocks and broomsticks oh my!  I might need to have a dedicated Halloween thread.  If I delve too much into the spirit of Halloween, though, I might end up needing a separate Halloween blog.  Just kidding.  I could just have a holidays blog that is inclusive of all holidays be they American or Christian or otherwise.  I have a couple other blog spaces to work on first though. The first blog that I ever attempted to create was called “Just The Next Good Thing”.  I had to add the word “just” because the title “The Next Good Thing” was already taken.  I happily wrote quite a bit but then I guess I wasn’t happy with the serious nature of it and I wasn’t motivated to continue.  This time is different.  I guess I have found my style of writing craziness that works best for me.  Now I am possessed of seemingly endless ideas be they serious or ridiculous. 😲

Science Fiction

Image
Oh dear, I think I need a unique space for my sci-fi thoughts and ideas even though I have never in my life been a fan of movies or programs or literature of the sci-fi genre.  (Ok, I did like “Lost In Space” and “Land Of The Lost” as a kid, and I did, as an adult, become interested in watching some episodes of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”.)  Anyway, the space will not be a place for any actual stories, but rather just a place for my random thoughts and ideas.

A Serious Question

Image
I have a serious question to which I do not believe I have received a definitive answer.  When people have more than one computer mouse are they called mouses or mice?

Poco Loco

Image
Looking at red solos cups. 👀 Glancing at a red solo cup, I am enchanted by the idea of the holiday season and decorating for Christmas.  Good grief, did I not just recently put away all things Christmas and embark on the journey of a brand new year? I think I will return to this post and add some photos next November and December.  Or maybe I will start with Halloween in October.

Defining Diego

Image
This is not odd or silly, but I still wanted to write about it here.  “All Relative: Defining Diego” is a podcast that I would like to listen to.   I don’t think that I’m going to get around to this immediately, but when the time is right, I definitely will because I really want to understand and hear the story of Diego, a boy who was adopted from Guatemala.

Bananas and Monkeys and Dino’s Oh My!

Image
Okay, evidently my mind desired the creation of this image.  But I just realized that there’s an animal (or humanoid) missing.  I forgot to ask to have Sasquatch included.   Here is a better image. Oops, not that one.  This one. I guess I’m identifying with my inner crazy storyteller.  The monkeys need some watermelon to go with their bananas.  Oh no, do I have to request a new image?  I’m sensing an “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie” theme.  That’s enough images for this tale.  Oh wait a minute, there was no tale.  Oops.  Once upon a time, in a deep, dark jungle , there lived a tribe of monkeys.  I have an idea.  I think I will ask Robin Williams to finish the story.  I swear he (AI version) puts ideas in my head so this time why not let him write the whole story.  Okay, here goes. Once upon a time, in a deep dark jungle, there lived a tribe of monkeys…. Once upon a time, in a deep, dark jungle there was a lively tribe of monkeys known as the Banana Bunch. They were mischievous and full o
